We throughly enjoyed out stay here. It is such a peaceful, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a wonderful locations. It has been a delight to watch all the birds excitedly feasting outside the windows. The weather has been crisp and cold and we have walked in all directions straight from the door, including to Watendlath and Newlands Valley. We very much appreciated all the Christmas decorations, the welcome pack and Jonathan’s helpfulness. It would be lovely to come back soon….. Margaret & Stephen (December, 2020)

Our first stay at Riverside, definitely won’t be our last! Fantastic house and location and lovely people, enjoyed our chat with Jonathan about the river wildlife, and were thrilled to see deer in the garden, as well as red squirrels, heron and bats. Shame the weather was so wet ( although the kids didn’t seem to mind). Great days out on the bus, no need to use the car. We really, really don’t want to go home!….. Craig, Sue, Katie & Oliver ( August, 2019)

A wonderful time in one of the most beautiful parts of England. Lots of fun walking and exploring, and enjoyed the peace and quiet greatly. Even got a marvel (!) of the red squirrel. We’ll be back. Thanks so much, Jash and Jonathan!….. Meg & Brian ( July/ August, 2019)

We’ve had such a lovely week and don’t want it to end. Property beautifully equipped and presented. Perfect for a 91 year old. Riverside location even more lovely than we imagined. We, like people before us and in the future, revelled in watching the red squirrels feeding. Also pair of grey wagtails, spotted woodpeckers and nuthatch. Through the meadow to the river, sagged robin and water forget-me-nots grow. Endless winding roads with stunning scenery. Saw a horse passed Grange. Hope to return some day. Thank you for welcome pack – lovely xxx …..Paula, Terry & Gladys ( July, 2019)

Our 7th stay in this wonderful place and it has been my favourite week so far. Truly amazing weather for the Lakes. It’s been so warm, we’ve been swimming in the lakes in just a pair of shorts. We tried paddle boarding for the first time at Nichol End and it was great fun. Looking forward to our next visit, which is only a few weeks away :)….. Gavin & Tara ( July 2018)

Thank-you, Jash and Jonathan for yet another (our 12th!) fabulous week Riverside. The heatwave kept us off the higher fells but wild swimming everyday, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding were brilliant. Wonderful birdlife….. The Uglows ( June/ July 2018)

Thank you once again for our stay in your lovely cottage and for the welcome pack.  See you next year…. Carole, Ray, Steve & Teresa (March 2018)

Our 3rd visit to riverside, has been a delight, a very relaxing visit.  Had a wonderful walk to Scafell Hotel, our old stomping ground in our younger days!  And the rain stayed away until we got back.  Storm Elenor tried her hardest to blow away the cobwebs too.  Our visitors loved this place as much as we do, and were elated to see red squirrels eating from the feeder.  Thank you for the gorgeous champagne and lovely goodies.  We’ve had a wonderful time and hope to be back again sometime soon…..  Judy, Andy Becca & Adam (New Year 2018)

We have really enjoyed our stay at riverside.  The cottage is beautifully presented and when the wood burner is in it will be even better!  The squirrels and birds have really entertained us with their feeding habits.  The frosty nights have given some wonderful star viewing.  Thank you for the flowers and goodies and also for keeping us warm and cosy………   Ian and Liz (November 2017)

Very lovely place.  Comfortable with a nice feel about it.  Has everything needed and more.  Loved the views, the river and wildlife.  Left the car parked up most of the week and used the very efficient buses to get out and about on our walks.  Nice touch the welcome pack and flowers.  Owners helpful and friendly.  Hope to return and will highly recommend to others… Phil & Marg (October 2017)

We’ve had a lovely relaxing stay, thank you both for being so welcoming.  Weather was poor at the beginning of the week but still so much to enjoy in the area.  Not to mention sitting in the lounge watching the pheasant, jay, blue tits & beautiful red squirrel.  Steve was delighted to have conquered Scafell pike and yesterday we kayaked down the river, across to St Herberts island, where we enjoyed a lovely picnic, perfect spot.  Thank you so much for letting us use the jetty…. Steve & Jan (October 2017)

Superb cottage, great being so close to nature.  Awesome location for walking.  Being able to launch the kayak directly out on river a real bonus….. Brett, Sharon, Nia & Dan (August 2017)

This lovely little hidden gem really pulled our holiday together.  With its small jetty and river running by made it very calming after an incredible walk up Scafell & Coledale.  If you have older kids, I would suggest the red/blue route on the Whinlatter trails.  As another suggestion, maybe try the Via Ferreta (we did the classic) though its not for the faint hearted!  Thank you Jash & Jonathan for the gifts – especially the milk tray & matchsticks.  Lots of good luck…. Ruth, Mark, Iris & Otis (August 2017)

This is our third visit, once again cottage first class.  Made the most of the week despite the weather, hope to be back again….  Ian & Irene (June 2017)

Wonderful relaxing week in this beautiful environment & cottage.  Our 4th visit here & as usual it lived up to the high standard of care & welcome we have always experienced.  No squirrels came to see us, however we live in hope.  Booked for next year…..  Barry & David (June 2017)

Our third visit and we have enjoyed a very relaxing stay here. It’s a lovely place to unwind. Thank you Jonathan and Jash for looking after us so well… Ray and Jo (Sept 2016)

We’ve had another lovely stay and great weather again- even a mini heatwave 🙂 Kept cool by spending the day kayaking on the lake from platy + and having a fab lunch at nichol end. Excellent value and awesome cakes. We even managed a swim in the river, but with no wetsuits, it’s not for the fainthearted! The borrowdale valley must be one of the most beautiful places in the world and the views from dale head and skiddaw are spectacular. Tara and Gavin… (Sept 2016)

Lovely quiet cottage in a great location to experience the lakes. The addition of the bird and squirrel feeders most welcomed as I got to see my very first “free” red squirrel. Thanks also for the welcome pack which was much appreciated. I will happily be recommending Riverside to friends and family… John, Lynne and Michael (Sept 2016)

Thank you so much for such a warm welcome, the bungalow is lovely, a real home from home, after this luxury the Yurt is not looking so inviting for next week!! What a treat to see a red squirrel from the window almost every day. Harry also loved playing with Benjamin and helping Jonathan stop the sheep going up the road opposite, how lucky you all are to experience this every day. Definitely a holiday to remember. Thanks for the lovely welcome packs. Harry was really happy with his own!… Janet, Gary, Mildred, Harold & little Harry (July 2011)

Our 6th stay at Riverside which really has become a home from home with every comfort provided for.  Thank you to you all for your warm welcome and thoughtfulness throughout – we had a lovely stay with you. The red squirrels have been so entertaining as have the families of birds all round the garden. Lovely walks, lovely views and good weather too. See you next year…Trevor & Teresa (June/July 2011)

Yet another relaxing week in this lovely cottage. The treats and goodies were most enjoyable. We had the opportunity to walk from the door and canoe from the jetty, taking the fantastic scenery and wildlife. Glad to see the Red Squirrel is still about! The Lakeland Motor Museum in Newby Bridge is well worth the visit for those looking for nostalgia along with the stream gondola on Coniston Water. Would recommend The Fish in Buttermere for fantastic pub grub and great value for money. Hope to return again next year……Mike, Jackie & Emma (May 2011)

What a delightful bungalow. Tastefully presented and everything thought for comfort. Thoroughly enjoyable week despite two days on constant rain. Twenty five years since we first visited Borrowdale and thankfully very little has changed, certainly not the fells and paths. Many happy memories, walked the duckboards and Catbells side, Watendlath and Dock Tarn, Green Gable and Langstrath. Wonderful. End of week very warm, blue skies and sun. Good meals at The Borrowdale Hotel and The Langstrath. Enjoyed the resident pheasant and the occasional red squirrel. Many thanks Jash and Jonathan and Family.. luxury welcome pack and flowers much appreciated…Dennis & Margaret (April 2011)

Nice meals at The Langstrath Inn and Morrels in Keswick (highly recommended) Thanks for the welcome pack which was much appreciated we hope to return……Stuart & Doreen (Sept 2010)

The cottage is ‘perfect’ a credit to Jash and Jonathan who obviously know exactly how to provide the most perfect place for a comfortable relaxing holiday We extended our daily walk to include walking to Grange and towards ‘Hollows Farm’ pass the camp site where you will see the river, there are the most friendly hungry mass of ducks – for 50p in the pet shop in Keswick you can buy duck food which one bag was not enough – they love it. Try Castle Cragg, views stunning and this time we visited St Bees and did the Costal walk spectacular. The week was not long enough….. Tim & Jill (Sept 2010)

We’ve had such a lovely time here. You’ve done so much to make your guests feel welcome-stocking up the feeders regularly so that we can watch birds while we have breakfast and the Red Squirrel on the tree outside the bedroom is so lovely. The walking books were really great as well and we’ve had some fab walks- the Cat Bell Terrace and Brandelhow shoreline one was beautiful, and the views from the Castle Cragg walk are breathtaking-although scrambling up the slate pathway with a baby on your back was interesting! Thanks also for all the supplies for the fire-it was lovely to curl up on the sofa in front of it with a glass of wine and a book….Carrie, Alex & Evie (May 2010)
